Geordie,
ReplyDeleteWe have very successful naval battles with 1:1200 WW2 ships, some over 30 years old! See
a report at www.angelfire.com/games3/jacksongamer/Sea2.htm

Hello Jim,
ReplyDeleteThanks for you comment and link
The link is very good and looked an entertaining evening :)
I am also very envious of your collection
You have a few pieces (HMS QE in particular) I would like to have myself
I guess it really is a visual scale thing with me
1/1200 scale is a beautiful scale to model in
The character of the playing pieces is excellent, however it is a matter of fitting them onto the playing space
To be fair 1/3000 and 1/6000 are also large relative to most gamers tables
:(
To be fair I have the same issues with 20mm WW2 land versus 1/200 or 1/300
One of the challenges of the Naval game is to restrict the information to the players (see my post regarding PBEM)
ReplyDeleteI guess I may be seeking here more of a simulation than game
