Link to WWII Italian Cavalry pictures
If I see them in the shops I will buy them, what for I am not exactly sure :)
Thanks to the Plastic Soldier Review for spotting these
Footnote: See Tim Gow's comments below, Russia 1941 and Yugoslavia are good options ;)
Could everyone please make every effort to stop me from buying any of these!
ReplyDeleteThese minis are certainly interesting. Thanks for the link to that review. I didn't know there were any successful cavalry charges in WWII, so that was quite informative.
ReplyDeletelol
ReplyDeleteNo Tim you are "doomed" as Frazer said in the Home Guard
Too much good stuff around at present, simply no time to do any of it
I'm blaming you for a recent purchase of the new tooled Airfix Me110D ;)
Bard. maybe Tim et al can help us here, I'm thinking perhaps Greece 1941 or Russia, North Africa seems a silly place for a Cav Brigade/Div, but I could be wrong
As far as I know, the Italians had three Celere (Fast) Divisions in WW2 - each with two cavalry regiments (battalion-sizes units). Most spent much of the war in Yugoslavia but 3rd 'Amededo Duca d'Aosta' was sent to Russia in August '41. It was destroyed on the Don in Dec '42 and later rebuilt (to a limited extent) in N.Italy. I have no Celere div for Megablitz as yet, but all the requisite toys are skulking in a box somewhere...
ReplyDeleteNice bit of info their Tim :)
ReplyDeleteThree packets of the Italian Cab should about cover the whole of the Italian Army WW2 Cavalry XXX on a MegaBlitz scale :)
You know it makes sense
They might mix well with the Airfix infantry set
ReplyDeleteYou know that you want some. Resistance is futile :O)
