Thoughts on an AWI Project: Part I

Source of Inspiration:
Recently caught the last hour of Mel Gibson's "The Patriot" on television and was impressed with the look of the 'brown coated' militia and the blue-coated American militia in the battle scenes. That "twitchy painty" feeling started tingling in my bones. What to do? What to do? Wait and see if it passes? I can at least gather my thoughts ... and ask for advice from fellow bloggers.

28mm Figure Ranges:
Perry's AWI Hard Plastics

Reference Material:
Mark Urban's: Fusilier (reading at present)

References for other introductory books appreciated?

Wargames Factory have recently released plastic 28mm British and American Regulars and Militia. I've not seen them, but the general consensus with WF is their figures are improving with each release, so they may be useful

Don't do it! That way madness lies! Oh, of course there is the new Black Powder supplement too!

Thanks Renko, for even more temptation, as if the Perry's were not enough ;)

Legatus, I sense reverse psychology at play here :)

Those Victrix Romans look good, almost too irresistible

Renko is egging me on here too, between WWII Chain of Command and Renaissance Impetus games that is, he's dropping hints that the Victrix Romans would make a perfect Impetus Ancients Starter Army

Xmas is coming ;)

I would recommend Page Smith's two volume history. It is not merely an introduction, but it's the best as far as I am concerned.
Good luck with this project.
