It feels like cheating getting ready made kits but it was a bargain to boot.
Upfront I must confess I have been very envious of the wargamer blogger tales of the Tank Magazine miniatures from down south (NZ and Oz). In the UK I seemed to totally miss its appearance. However I found this little chap sitting in an outlet that sells/specialises in end-of-stock specials (aka the Yorkshire Trading Store).
T-55A Polish Army Prague(Czechoslovakia) - 1968
No magazine just the tank retailing at £2.99, sadly there was only this kit and one other left in stock. It is very nicely put together, functional as per the real thing. It did have a minor accident with a wheel came off as I unshipped it but I managed to repair it with a bit of superglue :)
Something for a Chieftain or a Centurion to poke its nose at circa 1970! 20mm Skirmish game material I think.

You'll probably want to keep an eye out for this then. It's just started now, and issue 1 is £1.99.
Also Combat Tanks are still available from the publisher direct, but they are a bit pricey new.
when the magazine came out over a year ago, I bought four Tiger I tanks, at £2 each. My local Modelzone still has loads of T-34s and Shermans, as well as some M1A1s, going at £4 each, try there.
Nice kit, there was quite a few of these still being used in Croatia when I was working out there - quite intimidating, age notwithstanding.
I like the T54/T55 series of tanks, Too bad Armourfast/Italeri don't do a fast build version. After all they have been in use for over fifty years now and still crop up in the news at six.
Heck Al, I'm just glad the the closest I've ever got to one of these things is on a tabletop in 1/300 or modelling in 1/72.
"Respect" for just coming close to a real-life one.
Best Wishes
Nice spot Arquinsiel!
Perhaps not for a full subscription but for certain specials and cheap start-up offers :)
Paul,
Yes, good point, I have an expensive T-54 kit to build for the NVA, pity as they need to come in mass like the T34-85
Hi Dan,
Sadly the nearest Modelzone is far, far away for me :(
